eLearning

DD2 eLearning

DDTwo is an SCDE approved eLearning district. The current provision allows the district to use up to five (5) days in eLearning.

Dorchester Two will utilize eLearning protocol for emergency situations, such as inclement weather or utility interruptions.

To avoid breaks in the learning process, the use of eLearning days is less disruptive for families’ schedules since there are no make-up days to be implemented. eLearning days allow students to minimize the interruptions caused by bad weather days and continue to make educational progress.

Teachers will be expected to make eLearning assignments available by 9am on the day of eLearning and be available to students during office hours.

Students will have regular assigned classwork on eLearning Days, and their teachers will be available electronically. Students will have three days to complete and submit assignments. The three-day window will begin on the returning day.

eLearning Expectations

For any eLearning day used, the district certifies that each eLearning day will be 5.5 hours for students in kindergarten through grade 8 and 6.0 hours for students in grades 9-12, or a minimum of 200 minutes of daily instruction. Lessons provided should require a minimum of 200 minutes of instruction (video, reading, listening); the remainder of the time is for student engagement, studying and work completion, etc. These times are cumulative across subjects.

Learning Model

Asynchronous learning allows you to learn on your own schedule, within a certain timeframe.  Students should be able to access and complete lectures, readings, homework and other learning materials during the eLearning day.

Special Education students will follow their individual program guidance.
